Vurt by Jeff Noon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I read this novel as a teenager in the yellow alternative book series. This story surfaced in my life this year when I discovered virtually real VR in the cult serial Virtually Reality in Camden Town, London in the summer 2016. Punk mythology poured from one story to another, when my second major video essay TECHPOCALYPSE NOW (just another remix of 'Death of an Ego' a dailymotion tribute from the hearts of Abney Cemetary in Stoke Newington, an ode to Baudrillard, Poe, Baudelaire with a soundtrack by Bristolian Natty Lee (assoc. with Bristol Reggae Society) screened an introduction to consciousness to an audience at I'KLEKTIC art lab in South London and streamed live by Video Hack Space in a regular event hosted by @VJ.London in a live performance by D1 SKCHDB
I loved this book and the way the characters travelled from world to world by putting a feather in their mouth. Furthermore, I placed a BTL ad in a bookstore in the iconic Stables Market. I created a new entertainment FB page Vurt LDN. It's a TV/Film Award for the D&AD competition Next Director Competition, with a £40 (5min film).
Today I am set in the Unicorn pub waiting for live punks performance and work on a script in Amazon Studios software. It is based on several stories I have created, one of them was reviewed by Euroscript:
'1. The stream of consciousness style of writing is dynamic and has energy.
2. It reads like a cyber novel, with chapters roughly styled after cyberpunk novelists like William Gibson and Neal Stephenson or a dystopian biopunk world like Bacigalupi’s Wind-Up Girl.
3. Could be an interesting source material for a drama or documentary about the radical activism and politicisation that students experience at the university and how the authorities are reacting to the activities on campus.'
I am hoping to publish this script in video form for big screen until Wednesday 18th of January 2016, at the Independent Cube Microplex in Bristol. To qualify to that night I also need to sidestep 2-3 other stories. One of them is my most pressing deadline for Bartle Bogart Hegarty ad agency homegrown internhip and export my amazon lists to Goodreads and attend a photographic event from Royal Photographic Society.
